Saturn 「

Saturn 「
22° AW2025 —— Loong and Snake Convergence(龍蛇混集)
This October, Tokyo will witness the convergence of loong and snakes (龍蛇混集)in Shibuya.
#Tokyo International Eyewear Exhibition
In ancient China, Saturn was known as "鎮星" (The Guardian Star). Ancient astronomers observed that Saturn orbits the heavens approximately every 28 years (actually 29.5 years), guarding one of the twenty-eight lunar mansions each year, as if taking turns presiding over the four directions—hence its name.
In the West, it is named after Saturn, the Roman god of agriculture.
Positive traits: Reliable, steady, patient, organized, self-disciplined, persevering, responsible, trustworthy, authoritative, and wise.
When positioned at the center, it embodies the Yellow Emperor's destiny to rule all directions, combining powerful earth energy with creative potential. It is the cornerstone that stabilizes the world.
22° meticulously designed the J1 titanium eyewear, handcrafted to symbolize the "Earth generates Metal" synergy, enhancing the wearer’s energy to shape their future with their own hands—an auspicious寓意吉祥 (yùyì jíxiáng) blessing!
Paired with snake bone accents, it further promotes longevity, peace, and good fortune!
The snake is an ancient creature that has survived into modern times. When leaving this world, only snake bones remain. If fate allows, these bones can endure for millions of years, turning into fossils! Different cultures have cherished them, symbolizing longevity, good fortune, and auspiciousness to this day.
Indigenous American Culture
Crafting:Snake bones may be combined with other natural materials (like feathers and bark) to create intricate amulets.
Usage:They are used in healing rituals and celebrations, often accompanied by songs and dances to enhance their sacredness.
African Culture
Crafting:Snake bones are carefully decorated, possibly incorporating beads, herbs, or other materials to enhance their mystique.
Usage:Worn as amulets or used in significant rituals, such as coming-of-age ceremonies and harvest festivals.
European Folklore
Crafting:Snake bones are often simply cleaned and dried, then placed in prominent household locations, like doorways or windowsills.
Usage:They serve as talismans to ward off evil, utilized during specific festivals and celebrations to protect homes from malevolent forces.
South Asian Culture
Crafting:The cleaned and dried snake bones may be set into metal or fabric to create amulets.
Usage:Placed near altars during religious ceremonies, they are invoked for divine protection.
Chinese Culture
Crafting:Cleaned and dried snake bones are often strung together with red cords or metal chains.
Usage:Hung at doorways or worn during festivals and rituals, they are believed to ward off evil and bring good fortune.
Snake and Loong
Mythological Perspective:To transform into a Loong, a snake must accumulate over 3,000 years of cultivation and meet the stringent conditions of “heaven and earth’s spirit energy + karmic opportunities.”
Warring States to Qin and Han Dynasties:Philosophical integration and finalization of the Loong form (475 BC – AD 220)
1. Foundations of the I Ching(易經) :The theory states in "Zhou Yi, Commentary on the Appended Words": "The hibernation of the Loong and snake is for self-preservation," linking the snake's hibernation habits to the Loong's emergence, establishing a philosophical isomorphism in their life cycles.
2. Han Dynasty's Texts and Imperial
Mandates:The "Shang Shu Zhong Hou" mentions: "The red Loong bears the chart and bestows it to Yao," with Liu Bang being deified as "Red Emperor" who slays the white snake (the White Emperor). Thus, the snake officially becomes the earthly incarnation of the Loong.
Wang Chong in "Lun Heng" bluntly states: "Sometimes the dragon resembles the snake, and sometimes the snake resembles the Loong," reflecting the fluidity of their identities in popular perception.
As stated in "Bao Pu Zi 抱朴子": "Before transformation, the snake coils in the grass; once it becomes a Loong, it soars in the skies." This transformation lies in the hearts of the people, not in skin or bones.
